Old Mistresses: the Lost Women of Art History

Friday 10th April, 630pm at LoLo House, Al Quoz

For centuries, women artists have had to fight to be seen and heard. Working in a man’s world, they defied convention, overcame exclusion and forged careers against extraordinary odds – becoming pioneers whose influence still resonates today.

In this multi-disciplinary evening talk, Rose explores how women were not simply sidelined in art history, but systematically written out of it. Art History will be brought vividly to life through bold and powerful choral performances, giving voice to themes of independence, resilience and self-determination.

Together, words and music reclaim the lives and work of remarkable yet overlooked artists including Sofonisba Anguissola, Judith Leyster and Angelica Kauffman. By restoring these women to the canon, Rose’s event reclaims their groundbreaking art and powerful stories — shining a light on achievements that history long overlooked.
